KPHA LEGACY FUND

The Kansas Public Health Association was founded in 1921.  This is a testament to KPHA’s commitment to public health in Kansas for over a century.  The KPHA Legacy Fund is designed to give a gift through an individual’s estate plan.  Donating through this fund ensures that your commitment to public health in Kansas continues to benefit future generations.   If you are interested in setting up a legacy donation, please email us at kpha@kpha.us.

SPONSOR A STUDENT STUDYING PUBLIC HEALTH

Make a donation to sponsor a student.  KPHA is committed to supporting the next generation of those who will carry the torch in public health careers.  This donation removes barriers to allow a public health degree-seeking student attend a KPHA training or event, who otherwise, would not have the funds.

DONATE TO THE LOUGENE MARSH SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Hazel “Lougene” Marsh was a Kansas public health hero who passed away on April 17, 2021.  Lougene made significant contributions to the Kansas public health system throughout her entire career, spanning several decades.  The Lougene Marsh Scholarship is awarded to a student attending a Kansas college or university while pursuing a degree in public health.  The amount of the scholarship, and how many scholarships are distributed, is dependent on the availability of funds.  Your donation will help us award as many scholarships as possible!  Scholarship recipients are announced at the Kansas Public Health Conference in the fall.

Lougene graduated from Osawatomie High School in eastern Kansas.  She earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from Phillips University (Enid, Oklahoma) in 1967, and later received her Master of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Kansas in 1999.  Lougene’s professional career has always been in public and health services.  She worked for Kansas Social & Rehabilitation Services in Emporia, Kansas, and later became Executive Director of Flint Hills Community Health Center from 2001 to 2009.  Lougene then joined the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment as the Director in 2009 and retired in 2019.
